Preparing Our Hearts for the Day of Atonement
Repentance is an essential part of our relationship with Elohim. It is more than simply saying, "I am sorry." True repentance means acknowledging our sin, asking for forgiveness, turning away from it, and choosing to walk again in obedience and covenant with the Father.
"Repent, therefore, and return — so your sins might be blotted out, so times of relief might come from the presence of Adonai." — Acts 3:19
Scripture teaches us that when we confess our sins, Elohim is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Repentance brings what has been hidden into the light and allows us to surrender sinful habits, unforgiveness, rebellion and ungodly agreements to Yeshua.
The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) is one of the appointed times of the Lord described in Leviticus 23. It was set apart as a solemn time of humbling oneself before Elohim, repentance and cleansing.
For believers in Yeshua, this appointed time also points us toward Yeshua HaMashiach, our perfect High Priest, whose blood provides forgiveness and cleansing.
As we approach the Day of Atonement, we encourage you to intentionally set aside time to examine your heart, repent and fully surrender yourself before the Father.
"Search me, O God, and know my heart… and see if there be any offensive way within me." — Psalm 139:23–24
The Repentance and Renunciation List below has been prepared to assist you in this process. Do not rush through it. Allow the Ruach HaKodesh to reveal the areas that need repentance and surrender.
Within our ministry's understanding of the biblical imagery of heavenly courts, books and scrolls, we also ask the Father that every accusation and ungodly agreement concerning our lives be answered through genuine repentance and the blood of Yeshua.
Our desire is to enter the new season with clean hands, a pure heart, and nothing knowingly left un-surrendered that could hinder our walk, obedience or the blessings Elohim desires for us.
Abba Father,
I humble myself before You and ask the Ruach HaKodesh to search my heart.
Please reveal anything in my life that needs repentance, forgiveness or surrender. I confess my sins before You and ask You to forgive and cleanse me through the precious blood of Yeshua HaMashiach.
I renounce every sinful agreement and pattern in my life and choose today to walk according to Your Word.
Father, where Scripture speaks of heavenly books, records and scrolls, I ask that every accusation against me be answered by my repentance, Your mercy and the blood of Yeshua.
Cleanse my heart and prepare me for the season ahead. Let nothing remain in my life that would hinder my relationship with You or prevent me from walking fully in Your purposes and blessings.
I surrender myself completely to You again today.
In the mighty name of Yeshua HaMashiach.
Amen.
Now prayerfully work through the List of Sins below. Take your time and allow the Ruach HaKodesh to guide you.
